RULES VIDEO
A gritty, cooperative dice-and-theme game where you work together to stop a cult's ritual and, finally, physically strike down the Ancient One that's been summoned (Cthulhu or Hastur). As the game goes on, investigators sink deeper into 'insanity' — but paradoxically, the crazier they get, the more their unique special abilities are supercharged, turning them into monster-slaying superhumans. A combat-focused, superbly crafted co-op game about raiding a boss monster right on the knife's edge between death and a full-blown madness rampage, riding your dice luck to the limit.
※When people jump in based purely on the visuals and beginners burn out early from the long, complicated rules explanation; avoid it when the group includes a domineering 'alpha player' type who backseat-drives others, or players who get badly stressed by brutal dice-luck swings, since it kills the cooperative fun.

Scores by situation
New faces+−
♡♡☆☆☆ [Awkwardness / Entry Barrier] The big, grotesque monster miniatures grab attention, but each episode has its own special rules, enemy behavior patterns, and a mountain of fiddly exceptions, so the explanation alone takes at least 20 minutes. For total newcomers or a light couples' get-together, everyone's already mentally drained by the end of this long setup phase, and the mood cools off fast.
Close friends+−
♡♡☆☆☆ [Dopamine Shortfall] Among close friends who've mastered the rules, a single dice result can trigger screaming and a real dopamine hit, but in a friend group that's still 'learning' it, digesting the flood of rules without errors tends to feel more like forced studying. It's too heavy and structured to casually pull out for loud, easy laughs.
Strategy+−
♡♡♡♡☆ [Proven Advanced Strategy] For an intermediate strategist group that likes the co-op genre, this delivers depth that ranks among the all-time greats. Efficiently sealing off the portals and monsters that pour out each round, and organically chaining everyone's unique abilities together to hunt the boss, runs on such a tight system that it delivers real catharsis from running your brain at full power.
Couple+−
♡♡♡☆☆ [Quiet Healing] It has an excellent system built for two players as a couple. That said, it's the polar opposite of a 'healing' theme where you sit quietly, talk, and tend your own peaceful puzzle — it's a bloody monster-slaughter shouting match of 'if we don't kill that thing NOW we're all dead,' so it's far from emotionally relaxing.
Duel+−
♡♡♡♡☆ [Friendship Wrecker] It's not a 2-player competitive game but a cooperative one — still, when two competitive people each grab a character and put their heads together to beat a hard scenario, it delivers real tension. The catharsis of combat mind games, where a single dice pip decides fates and characters claw their way back from the brink, is intense enough that it works great even for a spicy combat-flavored rivalry.
Gateway+−
♡♡♡☆☆ [Recommended Gateway Game] It's a masterwork showing off everything great about the thematic genre, but the over-20-minute rules barrier and the sheer number of exceptions can overload even the most eager newcomer on their very first play. It's best to try a lighter co-op/strategy game first before tackling this one.
